Interview with Laura Byron - Reading
My favourite books are the Harry Potter series which I am currently re-reading (I am introducing my son to the books who has seen a couple of the films). The films are good but the books are excellent. I think you lose so many parts of the magic and characters in the books through only watching the films. Reading the books lets you imagine what the characters look and sound like and reading transports you to a place in your imagination, away from everyday life, for the whole period you are engrossed in the story. You can feel what the characters are feeling.
I was 22 years old when I read the 6th Harry Potter book (Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince) for the first time and I cried whilst sitting next to the swimming pool in Spain on a holiday with my friends whilst reading this book. The books are great for any age from pre-teen to 100 years old +.
We like to read snuggled up in bed or on the sofa with a cup of tea or hot chocolate.
Everyone should read for their mental wellbeing!
