Pupil Premium
The Pupil Premium is additional funding provided by the to help improve educational outcomes for disadvantaged pupils and to ensure that all children can access the opportunities and support they need to succeed in school. The funding is intended to reduce barriers to learning and promote equality of opportunity.
At High Close School, we use Pupil Premium funding to support pupils' academic achievement, communication and literacy development, personal development, wellbeing, attendance and engagement. Funding is carefully targeted to meet individual needs and to enable pupils to access a broad, ambitious and enriching curriculum. This may include therapeutic support, specialist interventions, educational visits, enrichment activities, learning resources and programmes that develop independence and preparation for adulthood.
Who is eligible?
Your child may attract Pupil Premium funding if they:
Are currently eligible for Free School Meals (FSM)
Are looked after by a local authority.
Were previously looked after by a local authority and left care through adoption, a Special Guardianship Order or a Child Arrangements Order.
Have a parent serving in the Armed Forces.
How will I know if my child is eligible?
If your family receives certain benefits, including Universal Credit or other qualifying benefits, your child may be entitled to Free School Meals and may therefore attract additional funding for the school. Eligibility is assessed through your local authority using information about your household circumstances.
If you are unsure whether your child is eligible, please contact the school office. We can provide advice and direct you to your local authority's eligibility checking process. Registering your eligibility is important, even if your child chooses not to take a school meal, as it may enable the school to receive additional funding to support your child's education and wellbeing.
