A year 11s thoughts
I’m David and I’m a year 11 student.
I started the school in year 7 and was a very troubled child in need of a lot of support.
I never stayed in class for more than 10 minutes and couldn’t cope around other young people. I was angry about my past and had never really had anyone who I felt cared and listened.
I was held on a regular basis over some of the silliest things. Like ‘He stared at me’ or if I couldn’t answer a sum, then I would kick off.
But the school have taught me how to talk through my emotions, they have taught me strategies to cope with my feelings.
I’m in year 11 and I have gone from being angry and violent all the time to feeling great about life and only occasionally feel down.
I have only been able to feel great because of all the support I have received.
The school have given me more:
· Confidence
· Better self esteem
· Happiness
· Responsibility and Independence (perfect status)
· Strategies on how to cope with difficulties
The school have helped me:
· Talk things through
· Control my emotions to a point
· I mentor the young people at our school
· Gain experience (work experience)
· Settle down in class so much that I am predicted good academic GCSE’s grades
